This article describes how to inspect a vehicle, trailer or asset initially and after a defect has been resolved. It also describes the types of inspection and the inspection statuses that are available in Reveal Driver Plus.
Vehicle inspection types
Reveal Driver Plus supports the following types of inspections:
-
Pre-trip: An inspection that you perform before you start operating a vehicle, trailer or asset.
-
Post-trip: An inspection that you perform after you have stopped operating a vehicle, trailer or asset.
Vehicle, trailer and asset inspection statuses
Reveal Driver Plus supports the following inspection statuses:
-
Passed: An inspection has passed with no major defects found. There might be minor defects that don’t stop you from operating the vehicle, trailer or asset safely.
-
Failed: An inspection has failed with one or more major defects found. Some defects might have been resolved. The vehicle, trailer or asset can’t be operated safely.
-
Resolved: An inspection failed initially with one or more major defects. The defects have since been worked on, and all defects have been marked as resolved. You need to certify that the defects have been resolved.
-
Certified: An inspection failed initially with one or more major defects. All defects have since been resolved and certified.

To perform a new vehicle inspection:
-
On the Vehicle screen, tap Start inspection. Go to step 3.
Inspect an asset or trailer
To inspect an asset or trailer:
-
On the Trailer/Asset screen, tap Start inspection.
-
You might be asked to select an inspection form if there is more than one form available.
-
On the Inspection screen, choose between Pre-Trip and Post-Trip inspection. For more information, see Vehicle, asset and trailer inspection types.

Select any defects that you have found on your vehicle, asset or trailer. Optionally, add a photo or comment by tapping the appropriate button. Skip this step if there are no defects.
-
When you have finished inspecting all parts of your vehicle, asset or trailer tap Next.
-
If you have found defects, the Safety screen is shown asking you whether any of the defects you found make the vehicle, asset or trailer unsafe to operate. Respond with Yes or No.
If you have chosen Yes and there is more than one defect, select the defects that make the vehicle, asset or trailer unsafe to operate. Then, tap Next.
-
On the Summary screen, check that all defects that you have found are listed. The defects are classed as major if you selected them as making the vehicle, trailer or asset unsafe to operate or minor if you didn’t. If the defects are all listed and classified correctly, tap Submit.
-
The submitted inspection fails only if you have added major defects that you have classified as making the vehicle, asset or trailer unsafe to operate. Otherwise, the inspection passes.
