Verizon Connect's dashcam solution connects to Reveal to monitor driving activity and protect drivers. The dashcam works with the Reveal Driver Plus app to help you improve your driving habits, provide evidence when incidents occur, and protect against false liability claims.

How dashcams help you stay safe
Your dashcam monitors driving behavior to protect you when incidents occur. Dashcams record video when triggered by harsh driving events such as hard braking, rapid acceleration, or collisions. This footage helps you:
- Resolve disputes quickly with objective evidence.
- Protect against false liability claims.
- Support coaching conversations with your manager.
Viewing your driving data in Reveal Driver Plus
The Reveal Driver Plus app lets you view your video events on your mobile device, provided you have the necessary permissions.
Use the app to review footage and event classifications to improve your driving habits. The footage you see is the same footage your manager sees in their dashboard, giving you both a shared source of truth during coaching sessions.
If you do not have login credentials, contact your administrator to enable mobile access.

Audio recording
Audio recording key details:
- Default setting: Audio recording is turned off by default.
- Exceptions: Cameras in U.S. government vehicles may have audio enabled. Ask your fleet manager to confirm your vehicle's setup.
- Privacy mode interaction: If audio recording is enabled, privacy mode is unavailable, and audio will continue recording even if privacy covers are placed over the lenses.

How dashcams capture and store video
Dashcams store video in two ways:
- Triggered event segments upload to the cloud
- Continuous footage remains on the camera's SD card
When footage is uploaded to the cloud
Video footage is uploaded to Reveal only when a trigger occurs. The vehicle tracking unit and camera detect harsh driving events such as hard braking, collisions, or rapid acceleration, and these events trigger the system to capture and upload video segments to the cloud.
The dashcam does not continuously upload all footage to the cloud. Video is stored on the camera's SD card and only specific event-triggered segments are processed and kept in Reveal.
Accessing footage from the SD card
Footage not triggered by an event remains on the SD card and can be retrieved through Reveal's video-on-demand feature. This requires manually requesting the footage from the SD card through Reveal.
Note
SD card footage is overwritten after a period of time. If you need to retrieve footage for a specific date or incident, request it promptly before it is overwritten.

Privacy mode options
Caution
Your company may be legally obligated to inform you about what video data is captured. Drivers can use privacy mode to stop transferring camera and GPS tracking data to the Reveal platform.
When privacy mode is enabled:
- Companies cannot monitor driving activity in real time.
- Companies cannot access live or recorded video from the camera.
The sections below explain how privacy mode works for different dashcam models.
Note
Refer to your company's internal policies for specific details on how your company handles and shares camera data. Some companies may be legally obligated to share video data with authorities if required by a subpoena or other legal demand.
Note
It is your company's responsibility to ensure that dashcam usage in vehicles complies with all applicable laws and regulations in your region.
Road-facing camera (Model 2) privacy mode
The road-facing camera (Model 2, also known as CP2) uses a privacy button to enable privacy mode. A physical privacy cover for the Model 2 camera is available on request.
When a vehicle is in privacy mode using the CP2 model:
- The vehicle's tracking unit does not send location updates or harsh driving events to Reveal.
- Video footage is not captured or recorded.
- No data is recorded to the SD card.
- GPS tracking stops.
How to turn on privacy mode
To activate privacy mode, press and hold the vehicle's privacy button for one second.
Result: A Red LED appears on the button. The vehicle displays a Padlock icon on Live Map, and the vehicle's location no longer updates.
How to turn off privacy mode
How you disable privacy mode depends on the device's configuration. You can either:
- Press and hold the privacy button for one second until the red LED turns off, or
- Turn off the ignition.
AI Dashcam (KP2) privacy mode
AI Dashcams (KP2 models) use physical privacy covers to mask video recording.
When privacy covers are used on an AI Dashcam:
- Video footage is not visible (lenses are covered).
- The camera remains powered on.
- The vehicle's tracking unit continues to send location updates and harsh driving events to Reveal.
Dual-facing AI Dashcams are supplied with two privacy covers, one for each lens. Road-facing AI Dashcams come with one privacy cover.
How to use privacy covers
- Find the drawstring bag containing the privacy covers. The bag comes with the camera and should be stored in an accessible location in the vehicle, such as the cup holder or driver-side door panel. Contact your fleet manager if you cannot locate the privacy covers.
- Clip the covers over each camera lens.
Result: Video footage from covered lenses is not visible. If a lens is not covered, that lens continues to record footage of the road or driver.
How to remove privacy covers
Remove the privacy covers by unclipping them from each camera lens and returning them to the drawstring bag in the vehicle.
Result: Video footage can now be captured and uploaded to Reveal.
How your company uses driver data
Each driver's video events are available in their driver safety profile in Reveal.
