This article explains how to troubleshoot an Excessive HDE error.
Issue
One or more of your vehicles show an Excessive HDE error code in the Fleet and Device list or on the Device Details page.
This status means that the vehicle tracker is reporting an unusually high number of harsh driving events per 62 miles (100 km) over the last 7 days. This status is only triggered if the vehicle has driven a total distance of at least 62 miles (100 km) in that period.
This error helps identify potential issues with driver behaviour or the device installation.
Solution
An excessive number of HDEs can be caused by driver behaviour. However, it can also be caused by a vehicle tracker that is not secured properly. A loose device can misinterpret normal road vibrations or bumps as harsh driving events.
To troubleshoot this issue:
Access the vehicle and locate the vehicle tracker. This is often installed behind the dashboard.
Check that the device is secured properly. It should be firmly mounted and should not be loose.
If the device is already secure, the events are likely accurate. Review the Harsh Driving Events reports to identify specific patterns or driver behaviours.
If you have secured the device but still believe the number of events is incorrect, contact Support for further assistance.
