The driver was not wearing their seat belt, or was wearing it incorrectly, while travelling over 6 mph (10 km/h).
How an unfastened seat belt is detected
An Unfastened seat belt tag is applied by one of the following:
Camera AI: The driving behaviour is detected by the AI Dashcam in real-time, alerts the driver (if in-cab alerts are enabled) and triggers a video event in Reveal.
Cloud AI: The driving behaviour is detected by the cloud AI when the video is uploaded to Reveal. The video event was triggered by a different unsafe driving behaviour.
Note
Even if driving behaviours detected by camera AI are disabled in your fleet's AI driving assistance settings, videos triggered by other events will be analyzed and the driving behaviour may be detected by the cloud AI.
Configure settings
You can choose exactly when a behaviour is serious enough to trigger an alert or video event. To adjust the minimum speed thresholds or the time duration required to trigger an event, see how to Configure AI dashcam detection parameters.
How to prevent videos falsely triggering
Videos can be falsely triggered, usually when an AI Dashcam lens is obstructed or in the wrong position.
How unfastened seat belts affect a driver's safety score
When a Seat belt unfastened is detected, it negatively impacts the Video driver safety score. Riskier behaviours impact the score more negatively than others.
