This article explains how to access and navigate the vehicle or asset Overview tab in Reveal. The Overview tab consolidates all vehicle or asset related information in one place.
Note
The Overview tab is replacing the previous Edit vehicle and Edit asset pages. You can still access the old edit vehicle or asset experience through the vehicle or asset list.
In this article:
To access the Overview tab for a vehicle or asset:
- Go to Account profile > Admin > Fleet and device list.
- Find the vehicle or asset in the list.
- Click View vehicle or asset.
The Overview tab is designed to provide a comprehensive view of your vehicle or asset, organised into distinct sections. This is the default tab that opens, displaying key information at a glance.
- Header: In the header, you'll see the vehicle or asset’s name (for example, "VW Transporter-2"), unit number, assigned driver, and group. Click EDIT DETAILS for quick edits to core vehicle information, such as adding a picture, or adding the vehicle to a group.

Usage: Provides current operational data such as:

Odometer: Current mileage.

Odometer readings are automatically calculated based on the vehicle's or asset's tracking history in Reveal. You can update the odometer reading manually to track the true reading for your vehicles and assets by selecting the edit icon.
- Total engine hours: Total time the engine has been running since the vehicle or asset was added to Reveal.

Status: Displays the vehicle or asset's current real-time status. For example, "Moving", "Idle", or "Stopped".
- Last location: The address of the vehicle or asset’s last reported location.
- Last update: Last connection to Reveal.
- Fuel level: Current fuel percentage.
- Battery level (electric vehicles only): Current battery percentage.

Specifications: Contains details about the vehicle or asset.
- Vehicle identification number (VIN)
- Registration number
- Make, Model, Year: Manufacturer, model, and year of the vehicle.
- Size: Vehicle size classification (for example, Medium-duty).
- Fuel type: Type of fuel the vehicle uses (for example, Diesel).
- Fuel tank capacity: Capacity of the fuel tank in gallons or litres.
- Purchase price: The cost of the vehicle or asset.

Devices: The following device information displays.
- Model: Make and model of the camera, vehicle or asset tracker.
- ESN: Electronic Serial Number
- Errors: If there is an error with your device, an error notification displays with a link to help to address the issue.

Status: This shows the status of the tracker and cameras. If a vehicle has both a tracker and a camera, a status for each will display. The devices can be either online or offline:
- If a tracker or camera is online, it has reported to Reveal in the last five minutes.
- If a tracker or camera is offline, it has not reported to Reveal in the last five minutes.

Efficiency: Provides metrics related to fuel or battery consumption.
- Fuel type
- Fuel tank capacity
- City efficiency (mpg or km/L)
- Highway efficiency (mpg or km/L)

Costs: Displays cost-related information.
- Cost per mile/kilometre: The cost to run the vehicle or asset per mile/kilometre.
- Purchase price: The purchase price of the vehicle or asset.
- Ignore idling time for sensors: When a sensor is active, idling time is ignored for cost analysis in Reports and Dashboard.
- Fuel card assigned: Indicates if a fuel card is linked to the vehicle and provides a link to Access Integrations to manage fuel cards.
- Comments: A section for any notes or comments related to the vehicle. You can only add one comment at a time for a vehicle or asset.
Other Tabs:
- Driver assignment: Manage which drivers are assigned to this vehicle over specific periods.
- DTC history: View Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) reported by the vehicle's engine (if applicable).
- Immobilisation: Manage immobilisation settings for the vehicle (if enabled for your account).
- Non-powered assets: Location history displaying daily location data.
To update information on the Overview tab:
- Access the Overview tab for the desired vehicle or asset (as described above).
- Locate the section you wish to edit (for example, Usage, Specifications, Fuel efficiency, Costs).
- Click the edit icon
next to the section heading to enable editing for that section.
- Make the necessary changes.
- Select SAVE or UPDATE within that section to save your changes.
On the Driver assignment tab, you can assign a driver to the vehicle, select the assignment period, and see the vehicle’s assignment history and unassign an already assigned driver.
You can assign a driver to a vehicle to track their activity in Reveal.
To assign a driver:

On the Driver assignment tab, click ASSIGN DRIVER.

In the Driver name field, search for and select the driver you want to assign.
- Select a Start date and Start time for the assignment.
- Optionally, you can also select an End date and End time to end the assignment at a specific time. If you do not select an end date and time, the driver is assigned indefinitely.
- Click SAVE.
You can unassign a driver from a vehicle when the assignment ends.
To unassign a driver:

On the Driver assignment tab, review the information in the Driver assigned panel.

Click UNASSIGN. A dialog box opens.
- Click UNASSIGN on the dialog box.
The assignment will appear in Previous assignments.
