Extend your hours of service

This article describes how to extend your hours of service using the adverse conditions exemption and the Big Day Extension. When you approach your limit on driving time, the app alerts you, and in some circumstances you can extend your hours of service.

Extend driving time due to adverse conditions

You can extend your daily driving time by two hours and your daily on-duty time by two hours if you are experiencing adverse driving conditions:

1. In the app header, select the three dots icon.
   
   
   
2. Select Adverse Conditions.
   
   
   
3. In the Extend Driving Time dialog box, select YES.

Extend on-duty time with the Big Day Extension

If you are driving under the 16 Hour Short Haul Exception rule set, you can extend your on-duty hours by two hours once every seven days using the Big Day Extension:

1. In the app header, select the three dots icon.
   
   
   
2. Select Big Day Extension.
3. In the dialog box, select YES.

The administrator must apply this rule set before you can use the Big Day Extension. For more information, see Change the Active Ruleset in administrator tasks.
