Avoiding other vehicles that suddenly cut into your vehicle’s path can cause the vehicle to jackknife or roll over. This type of event can result in a collision which can impact your business with vehicle downtime, increased insurance premiums, and driver injuries.
In this article:
The Other vehicle cutoff tag is applied when another vehicle suddenly cuts into the driver's lane. This action can result in a collision, near miss, or unsafe following distance.
When an event is triggered, the cloud AI reviews and analyzes the event. If the event was caused by another vehicle cutting into the driver’s lane, it is flagged as Other vehicle cutoff.
The system also applies one of the following tags to the event:
-
Collision
-
Near miss
-
Tailgating
A vehicle cuts into the driver's lane suddenly without leaving enough space.
The cloud AI reviews the event and detects the sudden deceleration and the other vehicle. It applies the Collision, Near miss, or Tailgating tag to the event, along with the Other vehicle cutoff tag.
The system determines the classification (major or critical) based on the driver's reaction and the event outcome.
A vehicle that is out of the sight of the driver, when moving from a minor road to a major road, suddenly cuts into the path of the driver.
Like scenario 1, this could lead to a collision, near miss, or tailgating. The cloud AI reviews the event and detects the sudden deceleration, the position of the other vehicle, and the cutoff. It applies the Collision, Near miss or Tailgating tag to the event, along with the Other vehicle cutoff tag.
You might see the External cause tag appear alongside this tag.
The External cause tag is applied when:
-
Tailgating, a collision, or a near miss is detected alongside another tag that indicates that an external factor prompted the event
-
No unsafe driving behaviors (such as distracted driving or tiredness) are detected
An Other vehicle cutoff tag is applied by:
Cloud AI: The driving environment factor is detected by the cloud AI when the video is uploaded to Reveal. The tag is generated when the video contains unsafe driving behavior, but another vehicle is detected moving into the vehicle’s path.
Videos can be falsely triggered, usually when an AI Dashcam lens is obstructed or in the wrong position.
