Connect a Ford vehicle with built-in telematics to Reveal

This article provides information about completing the connection to the built-in telematics solution in a Ford vehicle. Actions required to complete the connection can include providing consent in Ford Marketplace, taking the vehicle for a drive and checking your Connected Car Settings (CCS). Once your vehicle is fully enroled you will be able to view it on the Vehicles page and on the Live Map.

Built-in telematics hardware is standard on Ford vehicles manufactured from 2018.

Note

If you want to use the built-in telematics for a Ford vehicle that currently has aftermarket tracking hardware installed, please contact your Verizon Connect sales representative.

Add a Ford vehicle

To connect to the built-in solution in your Ford vehicle you must do the following:

  1. Add the vehicle’s VIN to the Get started page and then select Built-in telematics.

  2. Consent to share data in Ford Marketplace.

    Note

You can provide consent in Ford Marketplace at any time. You do not need to wait until you have added the vehicle on the Get started page.

  3. Drive your vehicle and check your Connected Car Settings.

Consent to share data in Ford Marketplace

If you have pre-consented your vehicle and are already driving it, it should be live and reporting in your Reveal account within an hour of adding it to the Get started page.

If you need to provide consent for your vehicle, the STATUS column on the Built-in telematics page shows “Vehicle requires Ford Marketplace consent” for the vehicle. Click the "Consent at Ford Marketplace" link in the ACTION column to open the Ford Marketplace login page in a new browser tab.

To provide consent for your vehicle:

  1. Sign in to Ford Marketplace.

  2. Navigate to Fleet > Service Providers to view a list of vehicles that require consent.

  3. Select the vehicle that requires consent.

  4. In the Edit Vehicle panel on the right of the page, click ADD CONSENT.

  5. In the pop-up, select “Verizon Connect”, and then click Add Consent.

You can provide consent on a per-vehicle basis or you can turn on the auto-consent feature, which automatically provides consent for all vehicles that you add to your Ford Marketplace account.

To use auto-consent:

  1. Sign in to Ford Marketplace.

  2. Navigate to Fleet > Service Providers to view a list of vehicles that require consent.

  3. In the upper right corner of the tab, click the Auto-Consent Settings link.

  4. In the pop-up, click the slider to turn it to "On".

  5. Select “Verizon Connect” as the service provider, and then click Save.

Drive your vehicle and confirm Connected Car Settings

If you need to take your vehicle for a drive or check your Connected Car Settings, the STATUS column on the Built-in telematics page shows “Activation Drive / Check Connected Car Settings” for the vehicle.

If you see this status, you will need to complete one or both of the following:

  • Take your vehicle for a drive for a few minutes, so that the vehicle starts sending data to Reveal.

  • Ensure the Connected Car Settings (CCS) are enabled. The CCS determine whether or not Ford sends vehicle and location data. These must be enabled in the vehicle so that the data can flow from your vehicle to Verizon Connect.

To enable the Connected Car Settings:

Note

If you need more information when following this procedure, refer to your vehicle user manual. The exact steps might differ depending on the year the vehicle was manufactured. The images in the table below show different versions of the vehicle touchscreen.

  1. Turn on your vehicle (ignition on) and take it out of transport mode. If necessary, contact your Ford dealer for guidance on how to do this.

  2. On the vehicle touchscreen, tap Settings.

  3. Tap FordPass Connect.

  4. Tap Connectivity Settings to open the Connectivity Settings menu.

  5. Enable the “Vehicle Connectivity”, “Location”, and “Vehicle Data and Remote Control” options.

  6. Turn the vehicle off (ignition off) and then start the vehicle. Let the vehicle run for approximately 5 minutes. The vehicle can either be left idling or driven during this time.
