Coaching using the Video driver safety profile
Caution
Your company may be legally obligated to let drivers know what video data is captured about them. Share this article with your drivers so they know what information is generated by the camera, stored in Reveal, and what it is used for.
Video events generated while a driver is assigned to any vehicle in the previous 12 weeks, are shown in the Video driver safety profile.
Use profile data, including the weekly safety score, to review a driver's driving habits and identify areas of improvement and recognise safe driving. This can help you to prepare for a coaching session.
In this article:
Only Integrated Video customers with the appropriate permissions can view the driver profile. This is because it includes sensitive information about drivers. Once permissions are granted, go to:
-
Video > Drivers tab and select a driver.
OR
-
From a video event, click VIEW DRIVER PROFILE to see the assigned driver’s profile.
Driver’s details: Includes driver name and contact number.
Time frame: Choose to see data from the previous 4 weeks, 8 weeks or 12 weeks. Classification and behaviour data is accurate to within one day.
Weekly safety score: Shows the latest Video driver safety score, along with a Coaching opportunities section. The score updates for every driver at the end of each week. The graph shows up to 12 weeks of weekly safety scores.
Click on each date range in the graph to see that week’s score and Coaching opportunities.
Note: When the distance travelled during one week is less than 15.5 miles (25 kilometres), this may not be enough driving data to provide an accurate safety score for this week. The icon will appear for that week and there is No score available.
Driver video summary: Shows the date the driver was last coached and video events that are:
-
Marked as Review pending or Coaching needed.
-
Starred.
-
Requested in GET VIDEO.
Coaching history: Shows the notes from the most recent coaching session and comments added to individual events.
Video classification levels: Indicates how urgently you should review an event by:
-
The total number and frequency of events classified as Critical, Major and Moderate.
-
Date range. Hover over the date range to see a breakdown for that time frame.
Behaviors trend: Shows an increase or decrease of unsafe driving behaviours, by:
-
The total number and frequency of each driving behaviour, as detected by the road-facing camera and/or driver-facing camera.
Note: Drivers in vehicles fitted with AI Dashcams may show more driving behaviours than drivers in vehicles fitted with a road-facing camera (model 2). This is because AI Dashcams can detect more behaviours using camera AI.
-
Date range. Hover over the date range to see a breakdown for that time frame.
Behaviors: Shows the total number and frequency of each driving behaviour, as detected by the road-facing camera and/or driver-facing camera.
Note: Behaviors with a value of zero (0) either didn’t happen, the camera model cannot detect them or a privacy cover was used.
Event comments: The most recent comments.
Events classified as Minor are excluded by default. Use the toggle to include minor events.
To ensure that the profile is populated, do the following:
-
Assign drivers to vehicles. This can be done by:
-
Turn on video events for selected behaviours in the AI driving assistance settings.
To ensure that the profile is populated with accurate data, make sure that:
-
After watching a video, the Coaching status is updated.
The Coaching complete icon applies to events marked individually or as part of a coaching session. The icon highlights when the driving behaviours were addressed, so you can see behaviour trends over time and following completed coaching sessions.
Some data is labeled as Discretion required because:
-
The vehicle tracker has an error.
-
The camera has an error.
-
The vehicle has been driven more than 1,050 miles (1,700 kilometres) in a day.
