Create alerts for updates on your fleet’s activity to help improve driver safety and reduce fuel costs. Use these notifications to respond quickly to unsafe driving or unauthorized vehicle use.
Set up alert rules to monitor your vehicles and choose when to receive notifications. Follow these steps to create any alert type; only the specific alert triggers in Step 6 change.
Creating an alert
- Go to Alerts > CREATE ALERT.
- Give the alert a unique name so you can identify it easily.
- Decide if the alert is a High priority. These alerts are flagged as high importance in the recipient's inbox and remain unread in the Alert log until you review them.
- Choose an alert from the Alert types list, which are organized by behavior, compliance, fleet health, and safety.
- Select Continue to start the three-page setup process.
- The FLEET & ALERT OPTIONS page offers different choices based on the specific alert type you have chosen. Select what part of your fleet you wish to monitor, and what events you want to trigger alerts.
-
On the TIMES & FREQUENCY page, select when you want the alert to be active. For example, you can set alerts to trigger only during work hours or on weekends to avoid unnecessary notifications.
Select from these options:
- Every day: Active 24/7.
- Weekdays only: Active Monday through Friday, all day.
- Weekends only: Active Saturday and Sunday, all day.
- Custom: Choose specific days and time ranges. You can set multiple time ranges per day to exclude specific times, such as lunch breaks. If you choose Custom, you can set a schedule for Monday and select Apply Monday's times to all to copy it to the rest of the week.
- Set the notification frequency to limit the number of alerts sent per driver or as a daily total. You can edit these frequency settings at any time.
- On the ALERT RECIPIENTS page, choose who will receive notifications and how they are delivered. You can send alerts by:
- Display (on-screen in Reveal)
- Text message (SMS)
- All
To select recipients by group, use the Entire Fleet dropdown menu.
Recipients must have a user profile created by an administrator to manage their contact preferences. To set up a user profile, go to Creating and editing users.
To send notifications to someone without a Reveal profile, enter their email address in the Additional Emails field.
Consider the following when choosing recipients:
- Does the person need to be notified about this specific activity?
- Is a text message necessary, or is an email sufficient?
By default, you are added as a recipient for any alert you create. To stop receiving these notifications, find your name in the user list and deselect the checkbox.
- To send alert notifications to a driver:
- Go to Delivery Options.
- Select Send a copy of the alert to the driver.
- You can also select Send via email. For some alert types, you can customize the email content.
To make sure a driver has a profile in Reveal, go to Create drivers.
- Select SAVE to finish. Once saved, the alert is active. You can use the edit function to make changes later.
Note
It can take up to 20 minutes for new or updated alerts to take effect.
