The "Find Nearest" function on Live Map allows you to enter an address, or the location of a vehicle or asset, and then see the 10 vehicles or assets that are closest to any point on the map.
In this article:
You can access the "Find Nearest" function from the Actions menu.
To open the Actions menu, do one of the following:
-
Click the three dots
beside a vehicle or powered asset (PA) on the Vehicle Status list.
-
Right-click the status icon of any vehicle, driver, or asset on Live Map.
-
Right-click anywhere on Live Map. The Actions menu that opens gives you fewer options than when you click a status icon on Live Map or the three dots
on the Vehicle Status list.
-
On Live Map open the Actions menu using one of the methods described above.
-
Click "Find Nearest".
The Find Nearest dialog box opens.
The panel on the left displays a list of active vehicles and assets nearest to either the vehicle, driver, asset, or PA that you selected, or the location that you selected on Live Map. The list displays up to 10 of the closest vehicles or assets that have been active in the last 24 hours.
Each vehicle or asset on the list displays their distance from the point you selected, and an estimated time for the journey between the two points.
-
Click GET DIRECTIONS for one of the listed active vehicles or assets to see the distance between it and the point you selected, plus an estimated time for the journey.
The estimated time results are powered by Google Maps. Google uses various factors to calculate estimated time, including:
-
Available data in an area
-
Speed limits and recommended speeds
-
Speeds derived from road types
-
Historical average speed data
-
Actual travel times from previous users
-
Real-time traffic information
-
If a list of vehicles is not displaying, try one of the following solutions:
-
Check the Group > Vehicles Selected drop-down list to make sure you have selected all of the relevant groups of vehicles.
-
Click Time Frame in the upper right corner and change the time frame. By default, only vehicles that have been updated in the last three days are shown.
Note
When you select a vehicle or assets location, you are selecting its location at that time. You are not selecting an actual vehicle or asset, which can continue moving to another location.
